CDC, Incheon Chamber of Commerce Pledge to Strengthen Investment Cooperation
AKP Phnom Penh, August 17, 2026 --
The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) and the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) of the Republic of Korea have pledged to further strengthen cooperation to promote investment flows and human resource development in Cambodia.
The commitment was made during a meeting between H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the CDC, and Mr. Park Joo-bong, President of the ICCI, in Phnom Penh.
H.E. Sun Chanthol warmly welcomed the ICCI delegation and expressed his appreciation for the chamber's support in organising the Incheon-Cambodia Investment Promotion Forum 2026 in late June.
He expressed confidence that the investment promotion forum, together with Cambodia's investment promotion mission to the Republic of Korea, would help attract more Korean investment and businesspeople to Cambodia.
For his part, Mr. Park Joo-bong reported on the positive outcomes of the investment promotion campaign, noting that 38 Korean media outlets had covered the event, generating strong interest among Korean investors and the business community in Cambodia's investment potential.
He said several major Korean companies had subsequently expressed interest in investing in Cambodia, particularly in furniture manufacturing and agricultural processing.
Mr. Park also informed the meeting of plans to establish a technical skills training centre in cooperation with the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC) and the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training. An MoU is expected to be signed for the initiative, with the ICCI seeking guidance and support from the CDC.
In response, H.E. Sun Chanthol expressed full support for the initiative and assured the ICCI delegation that the CDC, on behalf of the Royal Government, stands ready to coordinate and facilitate the project.
He said the centre would contribute to developing Cambodia's human resources and enhancing the technical skills of the country's workforce, helping meet the future demand for skilled labour from Korean investors.
H.E. Sun Chanthol also called on the ICCI to continue promoting Cambodia's positive economic prospects, political stability and investment opportunities among Korean business and investment communities.
Mr. Park reaffirmed the ICCI's commitment to strengthening and expanding cooperation with Cambodian institutions and relevant Korean state agencies to promote bilateral relations and facilitate sustainable investment and business flows from the Republic of Korea to Cambodia.
