751 Cyber Scam Sites Uncovered, Hundreds Shut Down in 12-Month Operation

Cambodian authorities have investigated 751 sites linked to cyber scam operations over the past year, sealing off 605 of them to prevent further illegal activity, official sources reported Monday.
According to the Secretariat of the Commission for Combating Online Scams (CCOS), the nationwide crackdown ran from July 2025 through July 31, 2026, under direct orders from the Royal Government.
As part of the campaign, law enforcement inspected 195 licensed casinos across the country. The checks led to the revocation of 20 casino licenses and the suspension of 29 others due to their involvement in cyber fraud. An additional 23 casinos saw their licenses expire or ceased operations during the period.
Authority figures also rescued and initiated repatriation procedures for 21,666 foreign nationals across 38 nationalities involved in or targeted by the operations. The majority of the individuals were citizens of China, Vietnam, Pakistan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and India.
During the same 12-month period, authorities built and forwarded 388 legal cases to the court system, resulting in charges against 4,147 suspects – including ringleaders and accomplices – spanning 27 nationalities.
