Cambodia, Timor-Leste Share Digital Governance Expertise via verify.gov.kh Workshop
AKP Phnom Penh, August 18, 2026 --
Senior officials from Cambodia and Timor-Leste gathered in Phnom Penh on Monday to exchange technical and practical expertise on the adoption of Cambodia’s national document verification platform, verify.gov.kh.
The opening ceremony of "The verify.gov Cooperation Workshop: Experience Sharing and Joint Capacity Building," was presided over by H.E. Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications of Cambodia and Chairman of the Digital Government Committee.
The event drew around 200 participants, including a delegation from the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, leadership from Cambodia's ministries of education, health, and public works, representatives from the National University of Management, development partners, and educational institutions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Chea Vandeth emphasised that the Royal Government of Cambodia, under the leadership of the Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, has prioritised digital technology as a key engine for socio-economic development.
He noted that successful digital government transformation relies on political commitment, inter-ministerial collaboration, integrated systems, skilled human resources, adequate financing, and robust infrastructure.
Drawing from consultations with digital leaders across more than 20 countries, the Minister highlighted that digital governance transitions typically take 20 to 30 years, with few nations achieving high success. To expedite this timeline, the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC) developed modern technologies designed to shorten Cambodia's transformation process to under a decade while maintaining high security and efficiency.
Under this strategic initiative, Cambodia deployed verify.gov.kh and the DG SuperApp to deliver rapid, user-friendly public services with strong data protection – efforts that have gained recognition from the United Nations and other international bodies.
The Ministry is currently expanding verify.gov.kh into a core Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) component to accelerate national digitalisation. H.E. Chea Vandeth expressed confidence that the ongoing collaboration with Timor-Leste will serve as a successful model for other interested nations seeking to adopt Cambodian-developed digital solutions.
