Cambodia’s Automotive Sector Gains Momentum
AKP Phnom Penh, August 18, 2026 --
Cambodia’s automotive industry is gaining further momentum as TH Automotive Manufacturing Co., Ltd. continues to invest in vehicle assembly and contribute to the development of the country’s manufacturing sector.
The development was highlighted during a courtesy call and discussion between Cambodian officials and Mr. Norm Tong, Chairman of TH Automotive Manufacturing Co., Ltd., at the Peace Palace.
TH Automotive Manufacturing is investing in Cambodia’s automotive assembly sector and is a partner of GAC International Co., Ltd. in assembling GAC vehicles in the Kingdom.
Located in Kampong Chhnang province, the company’s manufacturing facility has an annual production capacity of up to 15,000 vehicles, while creating hundreds of employment opportunities for Cambodian people.
Beyond vehicle assembly, the investment is also contributing to the development of local technical skills by providing employment and opportunities for Cambodian workers to gain experience in the automotive manufacturing industry.
The factory is expected to play a role in strengthening Cambodia’s automotive supply chain and supporting the government’s efforts to diversify the manufacturing base and attract higher-value investments.
Cambodia can be regarded as one of the emerging cars assemble factories. As of early July 2026, Cambodia had 13 vehicle manufacturing, assembly and production facilities with a combined annual production capacity of around 37,900 vehicles.
