AKP Phnom Penh, August 13, 2026 --

A senior Cambodian official on Thursday encouraged a group of students departing for higher education in the Czech Republic to serve as "goodwill ambassadors" and showcase their home country’s culture, economic stability, and investment potential on the international stage.

H.E. Kong Vimean, Secretary-General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), delivered the remarks during a courtesy meeting in Phnom Penh with recipients of the 2026 Czech Government Scholarships prior to their departure.

Representing Deputy Prime Minister and CDC First Vice-Chairman H.E. Sun Chanthol, H.E. Kong Vimean congratulated the awardees and urged them to work hard to acquire modern skills and knowledge – particularly in technology and global trends – to contribute to Cambodia’s development upon finishing their studies.

He urged the students to promote Cambodia’s identity, rich traditions, and favourable investment climate to their international peers, professors, and the Czech public to further strengthen bilateral ties and friendship between the two nations.

A total of 18 Cambodian students were selected for the 2026 Czech Government Scholarship programme, including 13 master's degree candidates and five doctoral candidates. Their studies focus on key priority fields: economics and public policy; sustainable agriculture, food science, and the environment; and engineering, information technology, and artificial intelligence.
