Bulgaria Hosts Beyond the Horizon 26 Military Police Exercise at Novo Selo Training Range

The Beyond Horizon 26 multinational tactical exercise will take place from May 11 to May 21 at the Novo Selo training range in Bulgaria, the Defence Ministry said. Military personnel and specialized equipment from Bulgaria and allied countries will be deployed across Bulgaria during the exercise.
The drill involves military police officers and service members from Bulgaria, Greece, Spain, Italy, Canada, Poland, Romania, the United States, North Macedonia, Hungary, Croatia, and the Czech Republic.
According to the ministry, the exercise aims to improve interoperability and coordination between NATO allied military police units and branches of the Bulgarian armed forces in a high-intensity operational environment.
Training activities will include riot control, establishment of checkpoints and perimeter security, investigation of incidents involving explosive materials, casualty evacuation, and helicopter insertion operations to neutralize armed offenders.
The Bulgarian side is participating with personnel and equipment from the Military Police Service, crews operating two AS-532AL Cougar helicopters from the Air Force, aeromedical and ground evacuation teams from the Military Medical Academy, and troops from the Joint Forces Command.
Separately, Bulgarian troops from the Second Tundzha Mechanized Brigade are taking part in the multinational exercise Scorpions Legacy 2026 in Romania.
