Rare Birdlife Flourishing at Cambodia's Techo Sen Russey Treb National Park, Boosting Eco-Tourism
AKP Phnom Penh, February 04, 2026 --
The thriving bird populations at the Techo Sen Russey Treb National Park of the Royal Academy of Cambodia are becoming a major draw for tourists, showcasing the area's rich biodiversity and the robust health of its local ecosystem.
Park authorities confirmed on Tuesday that the vibrant avian life is a direct result of sustained conservation of the park's forests, lakes, streams, and canals. These habitats provide safe refuge, abundant food and water sources, and secure breeding grounds for numerous species.
The park has developed a model where bird-watching ecotourism, conservation, and community development proceed in tandem. This approach prioritises respect for nature, ensuring tourism activities do not disturb wildlife or damage the forest environment.
"Birds are vital to maintaining ecological balance. They participate in seed dispersal and natural pest control," explained a park source. "Their conservation not only protects nature's future but also creates sustainable revenue opportunities for local communities through responsible tourism."
Located on an area of over 114 square kilometres in Chhep 2 commune, Chhep district, Preah Vihear province, the Techo Sen Russey Treb National Park is established by a Royal Decree dated April 17, 2014. It is a potential tourist destination with diverse historical and natural heritage.
