ARDB and CMA Partner to Promote Sustainable Green Finance in Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, June 26, 2026 -- The Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA) and the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a cooperation framework for promoting sustainable green finance and financial services related to climate change in the banking, microfinance, agriculture, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sectors in Cambodia.
This strategic partnership is an initiative designed to respond to Cambodia's vulnerability to climate change and environmental degradation, and in line with the Royal Government of Cambodia's commitment to sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient socio-economic development.
The MoU was signed here on June 26 by Mr. Sok Voeun, Chairman of the CMA Board of Directors, and Mr. Chan Seyha, ARDB Deputy Director General.
The signing ceremony was held in the presence of CMA Board of Directors, member institutions of the Association, leaders of the ARDB, representatives of the National Bank of Cambodia, relevant ministries, development partners, and other distinguished guests.
Under this MoU, CMA and ARDB will collaborate on several key initiatives to support Cambodia's transition towards green economic development and strengthen climate resilience.
CMA will act as a facilitator in mobilising the participation of its member financial institutions, as well as coordinating data collection and reporting at the sector level, and organising capacity-building activities to strengthen stakeholders' understanding of green finance.
The Association will also support the dissemination of green financing guidelines and standards, as well as facilitate the dissemination of ARDB's relevant financing mechanisms to qualified stakeholders, including the Techo Farmers Network Association.
CMA Board Chairman Mr. Sok Voeun stated this MoU is a significant turning point for the financial sector in Cambodia. “By refining our efforts towards national climate priorities, we have been strengthening the capacity of our member financial institutions in relation to ESG and in climate risk management, as well as assisting in pioneering green financing that is urgently needed for micro, small, and medium enterprises, and various sustainable projects that support Cambodia's green economic growth and resilience,” he said.
For his part, ARDB Deputy Director General Mr. Chan Seyha stated that Cambodia's agriculture and agro-industry require robust and sustainable financing mechanisms to build climate resilience, and ARDB will continue to support effective and sustainable green financing.
“Through this collaboration with the CMA, we aim to mobilise green credit, bridge financing gaps, and support farmers and rural enterprises in transitioning to more environmentally sustainable practices,” he said.
