Siem Reap Farmers Form Nation's Largest Modern Cashew Cooperative
AKP Phnom Penh, September 01, 2025 --
In a significant boost to Cambodia's agricultural modernisation, farmers from four districts in Siem Reap province have established a large-scale agricultural community dedicated to cashew production.
H.E. Khim Finan, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, announced the formation of the community today. The cooperative will manage approximately 2,500 hectares, making it the largest of its kind in the country.
The initiative is a direct implementation of the Royal Government’s Priority Policy Programme No. 6, launched in 2023 under its 7th mandate.
The programme promotes sustainable and efficient farming through large-scale collective production, where member farmers pool resources and expertise to enhance productivity and market competitiveness.
If development continues on schedule, Siem Reap province is projected to host a total of five modern agricultural communities by the end of 2025.
