Vietnamese DPM Pays Courtesy Calls on to Cambodian Legislative Leaders

Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia received here on Aug. 16 visiting Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
In the meeting, H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who is also Chairman of the National Steering Committee for Drug, AIDS and Prostitution Prevention and Control of Vietnam asked the Cambodian NA president to support the Vietnamese investment in Cambodia in order to deepen the bilateral ties in trade and investment between the two countries.
H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked Samdech Heng Samrin to help accelerate the planting of land border markers between the two countries in order to transform the border line area into a border of peace, cooperation and development.
In reply, Samdech Heng Samrin agreed with the proposal raised by his guests, stressing that both local and foreign investment will help boost Cambodia’s national economic growth. He further underlined the Cambodian leaders’ strong commitment to complete as soon as possible the Cambodia-Vietnam border demarcation and border marker planting.
Following on the same day, the Vietnamese DPM also met with Cambodian Acting President of the Senate H.E. Say Chhum to discuss on drug combat.
Both sides pledged to deepen cooperation to fight against cross-border drug trafficking.
H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc wrapped up his three-day working visit in Cambodia on Thursday afternoon. During his stay here, the Vietnamese DPM also paid courtesy call on to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia; and met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H.E. Sar Kheng, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Senate-National Assembly Relations and Inspection H.E. Ms. Men Sam An, Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Gen. Ke Kim Yan Chairman of the National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD), and Minister of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation H.E. Ith Sam Heng.
According to the statistics from the Trade Office of Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, the bilateral trade volume between both countries in the first three months of this year was US$919 million. Cambodia’s main exports to Vietnam included rice paddy, tobacco, corn, cassava, rubber, …, and the country imported oil, construction material, electronic accessories, agricultural machinery and fertilizers, etc.
