Cambodian Premier Returns from G20 Summit

The high-ranking Cambodian delegation led by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen returned home yesterday evening after attending the G20 Summit held on June 18-19 in Los Cabos, Mexico.
As the ASEAN Chair, Samdech Techo Hun Sen highlighted the ASEAN’s economic development (5.2 percent growth in 2011) and the role of the ASEAN Plus Three (China, Japan and the Republic of Korea) in preventing any eventual financial and economic crisis in the East Asian region, H.E. Hor Namhong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who was part of the delegation, told reporters at a press conference at Phnom Penh International Airport upon the arrival.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also raised the issue of food security as well as the high price of fuel, the main cause of the rising food price, said H.E. Hor Namhong, adding that this is a new issue that draw the meeting’s attention.
The Cambodian premier further underlined the ASEAN Plus Three’s food reserve for regional emergency response during any eventual food crisis, he pointed out.
The issues of climate change and green development, as well as trade, etc. were also discussed at the summit, said H.E. Hor Namhong.
