Sameech Techo Hun Sen Urges Cambodia, Viet Nam to Further Boost Bilateral Trade

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, has called on the governments of Cambodia and Viet Nam to make greater efforts to further increase bilateral trade, highlighting economic cooperation and investment as core pillars of relations between the two countries.
The call was made during a meeting with H.E. Le Minh Hung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh on Friday afternoon, as the Vietnamese Prime Minister was paying an official visit to Cambodia.
According to Senate Spokesperson H.E. Chea Thyrith, Samdech Techo Hun Sèn warmly welcomed the Vietnamese Prime Minister and expressed confidence that his visit would further strengthen the close relations between the two countries.
For his part, H.E. Le Minh Hung thanked Samdech Techo for receiving him and his delegation. He described the Senate President as a close friend of Viet Nam and commended Cambodia’s continued development. He also congratulated Cambodia on the successful organisation of the recent Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference.
The Vietnamese Prime Minister briefed Samdech Techo on his meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, during which the two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in trade, economy and investment, with the aim of increasing trade between the two countries.
He also highlighted the importance of promoting more active cross-border trade between Cambodia and Viet Nam to support economic growth in both countries.
The Cambodian Senate President welcomed the Vietnamese Prime Minister’s views, emphasising that economic cooperation and investment are central to Cambodia-Viet Nam relations. He called on both governments to pay greater attention to expanding bilateral trade.
While expressing satisfaction with the steady growth in trade between the two countries, Samdech Techo Hun Sen also called for the two sides to set targets focusing on sectors with complementary potential, saying that such efforts would further advance bilateral relations.
