Samdech Techo Hun Sen Encourages Cambodian, Lao Youth to Strengthen Solidarity and Exchanges
AKP Phnom Penh, October 7, 2026 --
Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), has encouraged Cambodian and Lao youth to strengthen solidarity and continue exchanging views and experiences to further deepen the close friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The encouragement was made during a meeting with H.E. Thongly Sisoulith, Secretary-General of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union, at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh on Wednesday afternoon.
According to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his full support for cooperation between Cambodian and Lao youth and hoped that young people of the two countries would maintain solidarity and continue sharing and exchanging ideas and perspectives within the frameworks of the youth organisations of both parties and governments.
During the meeting, H.E. Thongly Sisoulith briefed Samdech Techo on the outcomes of his visit to Cambodia and his discussions with senior Cambodian leaders, including Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and H.E. Hun Many, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service, on ways to further promote cooperation between the youth of the two countries.
H.E. Thongly Sisoulith expressed his desire to see Cambodian and Lao youth further expand cooperation across various fields, including culture, politics and other areas, contributing to closer ties and mutual development.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed the views shared by the Lao youth leader and underscored the importance of youth solidarity and exchanges in maintaining and strengthening the longstanding friendship between Cambodia and Laos.
He also shared his own experiences of national leadership, from his youth to his years of leading Cambodia towards peace and development, with H.E. Thongly Sisoulith.
For his part, H.E. Thongly Sisoulith expressed his appreciation for Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s valuable sharing and advice, saying that the experience and words of wisdom would serve as important lessons for him in his future work.
The meeting also took place as Cambodia and Laos celebrate the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2026, reflecting the longstanding bonds of friendship between the two neighbouring countries.
H.E. Thongly Sisoulith arrived in Cambodia on Oct. 5 for a four-day official visit, at the invitation of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, also CPP Vice President.
