Singapore's domestic wholesale sales rebound in Q2
AKP Phnom Penh, 20 August, 2026--
Singapore's domestic wholesale sales rose 20.3 percent year-on-year in the second quarter, reversing a 1.4 percent decline in the first quarter, the Department of Statistics said on Thursday.
On a seasonally adjusted quarter-on-quarter basis, domestic wholesale sales increased 13.5 percent in the second quarter, with total sales estimated at 129 billion Singapore dollars (101.4 billion U.S. dollars).
Most industries recorded year-on-year growth. Sales in the general wholesale trade industry rose 67 percent, driven by higher sales volumes and commodity prices. Sales in the ship chandlers and bunkering industry increased 56.5 percent, mainly due to higher bunker fuel prices.
In contrast, sales in the metals, timber and construction materials industry fell 23.6 percent, mainly due to lower sales volumes of metals.
Singapore's foreign wholesale sales rose 28.6 percent year-on-year in the second quarter, accelerating from a 6.3 percent increase in the previous quarter. On a seasonally adjusted quarter-on-quarter basis, foreign wholesale sales increased 16.7 percent.
