Koh Nhek district in Mondulkiri province is a region rich in forest resources and biodiversity, serving as a habitat for many species of wildlife and holding high potential for the development of nature tourism and ecotourism.

Koh Nhek district also features a popular dish that is well-liked by local citizens as well as national and international tourists: "Samlor Proung," which is prepared inside a bamboo tube and represents the identity of the indigenous peoples living there.
