11th Angkor Empire Marathon to Promote Sports Tourism During Green Season
AKP Phnom Penh, July 22, 2026 --
The 11th Angkor Empire Marathon will be held on Aug. 2 in Siem Reap province, bringing together runners from Cambodia and abroad while promoting sports tourism and showcasing the Kingdom as a safe and welcoming destination.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, the race will begin at 4:10 a.m. in front of the iconic Angkor Wat Temple and is expected to attract a large number of domestic and international participants, including around 150 visitors from China.
This year's event will take place during Cambodia's lush Green Season and coincides with the Kingdom's visa exemption policy for Chinese citizens, which is expected to encourage more Chinese visitors to take part in the marathon and explore Cambodia's cultural attractions.
Organisers said the international marathon is expected to further boost sports tourism, support the country's tourism industry, and promote Cambodia globally as a safe, friendly and hospitable travel destination.
Adding to the event's prestige, Forbes has included the Angkor Empire Marathon among its 12 marathon events worth participating in during 2026, highlighting its growing international reputation.
