Cambodia, Bulgaria-Arab Chamber Seek to Boost Economic, Trade Ties
AKP Phnom Penh, July 14, 2026 —
Cambodia and the Association of Bulgarian-Arab Economic Chambers have agreed to strengthen and expand bilateral economic and trade cooperation, focusing on agricultural exports and investment opportunities.
During a meeting in Sofia on Monday, Mr. Ahmad M. Alaeddine, Chairman of the Association, expressed a strong interest in visiting Cambodia to explore its investment potential and economic opportunities firsthand.
Mr. Alaeddine plans to lead a business delegation to Cambodia to study the potential for importing Cambodian agricultural products, including rice, coffee, pepper, cashew nuts, tea, chili, and various processed goods.
The Cambodian Ambassador to Bulgaria H.E. Dr. Chea Chanboribo welcomed the initiative, pledging full support to facilitate the upcoming visit. The Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Cambodia will coordinate high-level meetings with key Cambodian institutions, including the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), as well as relevant private sector stakeholders.
The planned itinerary includes visits to Cambodia's Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and networking sessions with local businessmen to foster direct business-to-business (B2B) connections, investment, and trade.
The two sides also discussed leveraging Bulgaria’s strategic position as an "EU Gateway" for Cambodian products, aiming to target both the Cambodian diaspora in Europe and the broader European consumer market.
The meeting underscores a shared commitment to economic diplomacy, aiming to translate potential into concrete, mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, investment, and tourism, with the Cambodian Royal Embassy in Sofia serving as the key facilitating bridge.
