Cambodia, China Pledge to Deepen Ironclad Friendship and Strategic Cooperation
AKP Phnom Penh, June 26, 2026 -- Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), held talks with Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping, who is also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), in Beijing on Friday, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to further strengthening their ironclad friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership.
According to Samdech Techo’s Spokesperson, H.E. Chea Thyrith, President Xi expressed satisfaction and pride in having contributed to building the strong Cambodia-China relationship that exists today, describing the bilateral ties as being as solid as rock.
He recalled his state visit to Cambodia in 2025, noting that it had further reinforced the friendship and cooperation between the two nations, particularly in advancing the building of an all-weather Cambodia-China community with a shared future in the new era.
Samdech Techo thanked President Xi for the warm hospitality extended to him and the Cambodian delegation and expressed his appreciation for the Chinese leader’s remarks on bilateral relations.
He stressed that Cambodia and China remain ironclad friends whose relationship endures regardless of global developments or changing circumstances. Samdech Techo reaffirmed that China is an old, genuine, and trusted friend of the Cambodian people.
The two leaders also discussed expanding cooperation in economic development and infrastructure construction. Samdech Techo requested China's continued support for Cambodia’s infrastructure development, emphasising that Chinese cooperation has played an indispensable role in the Kingdom’s economic growth and modernisation.
The discussions further covered strengthening security cooperation, enhancing information sharing, and promoting exchanges of high-level delegations between the two countries.
Both sides also highlighted the importance of party-to-party cooperation. During Samdech Techo’s visit, the Cambodian People's Party and the Communist Party of China are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding aimed at deepening political dialogue and strengthening the training and development of young party cadres in both countries.
In addition, the leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues, acknowledging that rapid global changes require Cambodia and China to further enhance coordination, cooperation, and mutual support on the international stage.
