The high-level meeting took place in Seoul on June 15 between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Sun Chanthol, First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and South Korean Trade Minister H.E. Yeo Han-koo.

In the meeting, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister expressed his profound gratitude for the opportunity to meet and briefed the Korean side on Cambodia's socio-economic progress under the wise leadership of the Royal Government, which is rooted in strengthening political stability and maintaining peace.
He highlighted Cambodia's vibrant and highly favourable business and investment environment for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), supported by an open, flexible Investment Law that prioritises investor care.
Additionally, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister emphasised the Royal Government of Cambodia's firm commitment to combating and eliminating online scams to enhance regional cybersecurity and ensure a safe business environment.
H.E. Deputy Prime Minister also noted Cambodia's readiness to provide "Aftercare Services," which actively listen to and resolve investor challenges through established mechanisms such as the Government-Private Sector Forum (G-PSF), the Cambodia-Korea Public-Private Sector Dialogue (PPSD), and the Private Sector Breakfast Briefing programmes, held in close cooperation with international chambers of commerce and relevant institutions.
In response, H.E. Minister expressed a warm welcome to H.E. Deputy Prime Minister and the delegation. He highly commended Cambodia’s active efforts in attracting FDI and noted Cambodia’s rapid socio-economic development momentum, which has positioned the country as a highly competitive and attractive destination within the region.
H.E. Minister expressed his commitment to maintaining long-standing bilateral trade cooperation and pledged to continue encouraging the Korean business community to explore investment opportunities in Cambodia, particularly in high value-added sectors.
Both parties engaged in extensive discussions on maximising the benefits of the Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA) to expand bilateral trade and investment volumes.
The meeting concluded with fruitful results, with both sides reaffirming their shared will to maintain close relations and facilitate business opportunities into tangible investment projects for the mutual benefit of both the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Korea.
CKFTA is a bilateral pact that officially went into force on Dec. 1, 2022, aimed at expanding economic ties and boosting market access for both nations.
