Labour Ministry Partners Zo Motors Global to Boost EV Skills Training
AKP Phnom Penh, June 16, 2026 --
The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT) has officially entered into a partnership with Zo Motors Global to accelerate the development of electric vehicle (EV) skills training and enhance commuting safety for workers.
H.E. Heng Sour, Minister of MLVT, and Mr. He Dong, CEO of Zo Motors Global, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) here on June 15 during the opening of the 9th National Day of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) 2026 at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The MoU aims to enhance the safety of workers during their daily commutes, promote the use of safe worker transport vehicles equipped with "SafeBox" systems, and provide new alternatives to current worker transport methods.
This cooperation supports environmental goals through the utilisation of EVs and the development of green transportation.
It also seeks to raise awareness and study standard policies and financial mechanisms to support a safe and sustainable worker transport system.
Coinciding with the signing of the MoU, the MLVT collaborated with Zo Motors (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. to deploy eight mobile skills training trucks.
These units cover essential skills, including refrigeration maintenance, building electrical installation, indoor plumbing, automotive maintenance and repair, air conditioning repair, digital skills, beverage services (coffee and juice making), and beauty and salon services.
On that occasion, the Minister stated that following this pilot phase, the Ministry, relevant institutions, and development partners will consider expanding the fleet of mobile skills training units to 40 vehicles by 2027 and up to 50 vehicles by 2028.
Zo Motors is a manufacturer and distributor of new-energy commercial vehicles originating from Japan, focusing on the development of Zero-Emission Transport Solutions for the transportation and logistics sectors.
The company assembles and distributes the first EVs in Cambodia, focusing on clean energy vehicle development and smart transport technology.
