Cambodia’s Education Minister Lauds Professional Institute of Excellence as Key to Global-Grade Tourism Skills
AKP Phnom Penh, June 09, 2026 -- Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, and Sport, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, visited a premier local professional institute on Monday to review its training programmes and discuss workforce development in the culinary arts and hospitality sectors.
The visit to the Professional Institute of Excellence (PIE) aimed to assess the institute's initiatives and training curriculum, which are designed to elevate education standards in the culinary and beverage industries, according to ministry officials.
During the visit, the education chief inspected PIE’s advanced infrastructure and state-of-the-art training facilities. The institute emphasises a "hands-on practice combined with theory" approach, utilising industry-standard kitchens, culinary demonstration rooms, and specialised barista bars.
Following a detailed briefing on the institute’s history, mission, and strategic objectives, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron praised PIE's progress and commitment to producing job-ready graduates. He lauded the institute's vision, noting that its focus on innovation, discipline, and dedication is crucial for meeting the demands of the modern labour market.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that enhancing technical skills in the culinary and food service industries serves as a vital catalyst for the sustainable growth of Cambodia's national tourism sector. He added that such vocational excellence is key to developing a highly competent workforce capable of competing on the international stage.
