Cambodia, Viet Nam Reaffirm Commitment to Advancing Bilateral Relations Based on Good Neighbourliness and Long-Term Stability

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and Vietnamese Prime Minister H.E. Le Minh Hung reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening bilateral relations and elevating cooperation to a new level during a bilateral meeting held in Hanoi on Monday.
The meeting took place on the occasion of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet’s official visit to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and participation in the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum (AFF), held from June 8-9 in the Vietnamese capital.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung highly appreciated Cambodia’s rapid progress across all sectors and expressed confidence that under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, Cambodia would continue to achieve further development and significant accomplishments.
In response, Samdech Thipadei congratulated Viet Nam on its strong economic growth and expressed confidence that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and the Vietnamese government, the country would achieve its national development goals for 2030 and 2045.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum of bilateral ties and cooperation across various sectors and agreed to organise commemorative activities to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Viet Nam in 2027.
The two sides reaffirmed their determination to strengthen relations in the spirit of good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term stability.
They also exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in key areas, including politics, economy, trade and investment, security and defence, education and vocational training, health, tourism, culture, energy, infrastructure connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined the importance of accelerating connectivity projects, including the Phnom Penh–Bavet and Ho Chi Minh City-Moc Bai expressways, expanding waterway transport links, increasing direct flights, and simplifying cross-border cargo transport procedures to reduce logistics time. Before concluding the meeting, both leaders also exchanged views on regional and international cooperation of mutual interest.
Following the bilateral meeting, the two Premiers witnessed the signing ceremony of the Information Cooperation Plan for 2026-2030 between Cambodia’s Ministry of Information and Viet Nam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
In addition to discussions with the Vietnamese Prime Minister, Samdech Thipadei also paid a courtesy call on H.E. Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly of Viet Nam.
