AKP Phnom Penh, June 04, 2026 --
H.E. Dr. Thun Vathana, Second Vice President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, reaffirmed the deep-rooted and enduring partnership between Cambodia and China during his address at the 3rd World Conference on Sinology, held in the historic Chinese city of Dunhuang.
Dr. Vathana emphasised that the bilateral relationship spans centuries, stretching from ancient civilisational exchanges to the modern era. The contemporary partnership, forged by the late King Father Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk and Chairman Mao Zedong, has been sustained through generations. Today, this legacy is carried forward under the leadership of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, and Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, serving as a cornerstone of Cambodia's foreign policy.
Speaking before a distinguished audience of senior Chinese officials and prominent international dignitaries, the Second Vice President formally voiced Cambodia's strong support for Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping’s global initiatives.
He described the Global Civilisation Initiative (GCI), Global Development Initiative (GDI), Global Security Initiative (GSI), and Global Governance Initiative (GGI) as a testament to China's long-term commitment and responsibility toward the shared future of mankind.
H.E. Dr. Vathana further noted that the Cambodia-China relationship is uniquely bonded by shared civilisational heritage, deep cultural ties, and a mutual dedication to upholding peace, multilateralism, and shared prosperity.\
