Samdech Techo Hun Sen Invites Benin President to Visit Cambodia During Francophonie Summit
AKP Phnom Penh, May 19, 2026 -- Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has invited the President of the Republic of Benin to pay a visit to Cambodia during the Francophonie Summit to be hosted by Cambodia in November this year.
According to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate, the invitation was made during a courtesy meeting between Samdech Techo Hun Sen and H.E. Franck E. W. Adjagba, newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Benin to Cambodia, at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace on Tuesday morning.
During the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, speaking in the name of His Majesty the King of Cambodia, congratulated H.E. Adjagba on his appointment as Ambassador to Cambodia and expressed confidence that his diplomatic mission would further strengthen and expand bilateral relations between the two countries.
For his part, Ambassador Adjagba expressed gratitude to Samdech Techo for granting him an audience to present his credentials. He also reaffirmed his commitment to further enhancing ties and cooperation between Benin and Cambodia.
Samdech Techo recalled his official visit to Benin in 1983 while serving as Cambodia’s Foreign Minister, noting that Benin warmly welcomed Cambodia at a time when the country was facing international sanctions and diplomatic isolation. He described the visit as an important milestone that helped strengthen the friendship between the two nations.
On the occasion, Samdech Techo extended an invitation to the President of Benin to attend the upcoming Francophonie Summit in Cambodia, expressing hope that the visit would provide an opportunity to further deepen friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
