Cambodia Earns Over US$266 Million from Rice Exports in First Four Months
AKP Phnom Penh, May 11, 2026 --
Cambodia exported 469,909 tonnes of milled rice in the first four months of 2026, earning US$266.38 million in revenue, according to a report released on May 11 by the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF).
The rice commodity was exported by 61 companies to 60 countries and regions.
Cambodia exported 126,108 tonnes of milled rice worth US$85.44 million to European countries, 129,332 tonnes valued at US$75.88 million to China and its autonomous regions, and 177,761 tonnes worth US$72.145 million to five ASEAN member states.
Based on the report, the EU now accounts for only around 27 percent of Cambodian rice exports, while China has rebounded strongly and is taking over 28 percent market share after several years of decline.
More interestingly, ASEAN countries are now approaching nearly 38 percent of total imports, led by the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam.
This shows that Cambodian rice exports are no longer mainly dependent on the EU and China as before 2024. The market structure is evolving into three strong pillars: EU, China, and ASEAN.
An additional 36,708 tonnes, valued at US$32.91 million, were shipped to 22 other markets, including countries in Africa and the Middle East.
Fragrant rice remained the dominant export, accounting for 58.66 percent of total milled rice exports, followed by white rice at 21.38 percent.
Organic rice represented 0.89 percent, parboiled rice 1.69 percent, broken rice 17.18 percent and other rice varieties 0.2 percent.
Additionally, Cambodia exported over 2.68 million tonnes of paddy rice during the four-month period, generating an estimated US$576.10 million in revenue.
