Cambodia Facilitates AOT’s Visit to Preah Vihear Border Area After Ceasefire

Cambodia on Thursday facilitated a field visit by the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) to assess the post-ceasefire situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border in Preah Vihear province, according to the Ministry of National Defence.
H.E. Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defence, said that at 1:05 p.m. on Feb. 26, the Cambodian Liaison Group facilitated the ASEAN Observer Team in observing, verifying, and reporting on the updated border situation in An Ses village, Choam Ksan commune, Choam Ksan district.
During the visit, the AOT inspected civilian areas and infrastructure, including houses that sustained severe damage during the Thai military attack in December 2025.
Earlier, this morning, the AOT observed, verified, and reported on the updated situation on the ground in the area of Preah Vihear Temple in Choam Ksan district, Preah Vihear province.
The Spokeswoman said Cambodia continues to provide full support to the AOT and has underscored the importance of strengthening the team’s role and mandate to verify and ensure the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire. She added that such efforts are essential to promoting transparency, accountability, and mutual trust between the parties.
Since the ceasefire took effect, the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Ministry of National Defence have reaffirmed their firm commitment to fully and responsibly implement the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee dated Dec. 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand dated Oct. 26, 2025, and other related agreements.
According to the statement, these efforts are aimed at facilitating a rapid improvement of the situation and a return to normalcy, peace, stability, and long-term security along the border.
