Forty-one (41) Cambodian students have been selected for scholarships programme under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Scholarship for the Academic Year 2026–27. They will pursue undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes at leading higher educational institutions in India under fully funded scholarships provided by the Government of India.

On Jan. 25, the Embassy of India in Phnom Penh held an event to felicitate the selected students under the presidency of H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport.

Congratulating the scholarship recipients, Indian Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Vanlalvawna Bawitlung said that India is home to some of the world’s oldest centres of learning as well as one of the largest higher education ecosystems in the world.

H.E. Ambassador encouraged the students to make the most of the educational facilities available in India and expressed confidence that the scholarship will open new opportunities for all recipients. He said that it was a matter of satisfaction that many students from Cambodia will have access to Indian Institutes of Technology and other world-class Indian institutions that enjoy international recognition for their academic excellence and research achievements through the ICCR scholarship programme.

He expressed hope that through the scholarship programme and shared experiences, the student will be able to contribute to Cambodia’s development after completing their studies and further strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two countries.

ICCR, an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, administers approximately 4,000 scholarships annually under more than 20 scholarship schemes for students from nearly 180 countries. At any given time, over 6,000 international students pursue higher education in India under ICCR-supported programmes. To date, more than 350 Cambodian students have benefited from ICCR scholarships and have either successfully completed or are currently pursuing their studies in India.

The ICCR Scholarship Programme offers Cambodian students the opportunity to pursue higher education at some of India’s most prestigious institutions, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Delhi University, Nalanda University, Andhra University, and several other renowned institutions known for excellence in research and academic studies. The programme covers a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, science, technology, humanities, Buddhist studies, philosophy, management, and social sciences.
