Cambodian, British Envoys Meet in Seoul to Discuss Trade, Security, and Regional Security
AKP Phnom Penh, February 20, 2026 --
The Cambodian and British ambassadors to South Korea met in Seoul on Thursday to discuss a broad agenda spanning economic, trade cooperation and regional security.
During the meeting held at the British Ambassadorial Residence, Cambodian Ambassador H.E. Khuon Phon Rattanak and his British counterpart, H.E. Colin James Crooks, exchanged views on strengthening bilateral economic and trade relations, political affairs, people-to-people exchanges, as well as regional and international matters of mutual concern.
Ambassador Rattanak briefed the British envoy on the Royal Government of Cambodia’s intensified efforts to combat online scams and cybercrime. He highlighted recent enforcement operations that resulted in the arrests of numerous foreign nationals involved in fraudulent activities. These individuals have been systematically deported to their home countries to face legal prosecution, signaling Cambodia’s commitment to cleaning up its digital and financial sectors.
The discussions also touched upon sensitive regional issues, including updates on the Cambodia-Thailand border situation.
Notably, Ambassador Rattanak underscored Cambodia’s strategic interest in joining the Board of Peace, an international initiative established by U.S. President Donald Trump. The move is seen as part of Cambodia’s broader effort to bolster its diplomatic standing and contribute to global stability frameworks.
