Cambodia Calls for Full Implementation of International Law to Protect Children in Armed Conflicts
AKP Phnom Penh, June 26, 2026 --
Cambodia has called for the full implementation of international legal obligations to safeguard children affected by armed conflicts, expressing deep concern over the growing number of grave violations committed against children worldwide.
Speaking at the United Nations Security Council Open Debate on Children and Armed Conflict in New York on June 25, H.E. Keo Chhea, Permanent Representative of Cambodia to the United Nations, said that more than 6,400 children in Cambodia remain displaced, underscoring the importance of maintaining access to education.
He highlighted Cambodia’s “Sala Camp” initiative, which supports the continued education of displaced children, and the necessity to ensure child-sensitive humanitarian assistance for those affected by displacement.
The Cambodian envoy reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to working closely with all partners to ensure that every child can live, learn, and thrive free from violence and fear.
