Cambodia’s Queen Mother Donates US$100,000 to National Mine Clearing Operations
AKP Phnom Penh, February 04, 2026 --
Her Majesty Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk has donated US$100,000 to the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) to bolster humanitarian demining efforts across the Kingdom.
The donation was formally handed over at the Royal Palace on Feb. 3 by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace, Samdech Mahamontrei Kuy Sophal, to CMAC Director-General H.E. Heng Ratana.
In a statement posted to social media, H.E. Heng Ratana expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the agency’s leadership and field staff, noting that the funds are earmarked for clearing landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) that continue to threaten rural communities.
The CMAC Director-General stated that the royal contribution is crucial not only to reduce casualties and reclaim farmland, but also to fortify the resolve of deminers working on the front lines, clearing the deadly legacy of past conflicts and the recent Thai incursion.
Her Majesty the Queen Mother has always shown deep concern for the well-being of the Cambodian people and has consistently provided financial and material assistance to humanitarian causes.
Cambodia reaffirms its firm commitment to responsibly and humanely addressing the legacy of explosive remnants of war and will continue to cooperate with national and international partners to mitigate risks and safeguard communities.
