AKP Phnom Penh, January 22, 2026 --
H.E. Khuon Phon Rattanak, Cambodia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, joined regional diplomats this week for a high-level lecture on the intersection of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI), signaling a push for digital modernisation within the ASEAN bloc.
The event, held on Jan. 20, was organised by the Philippine Embassy in Seoul in its capacity as the 2026 ASEAN Chair. The keynote address was delivered by H.E. Tanel Sepp, Estonia’s Ambassador to South Korea, a representative of a nation widely regarded as a global leader in e-government and digital infrastructure.
According to a statement from the Cambodian Embassy, the session focused on several pillars of the digital age: safe AI integration, digital ethics, and future of building digital governments to enhance public service delivery and citizen trust.
The lecture drew a significant gathering of the ASEAN diplomatic corps, including ambassadors, chargés d'affaires, and senior diplomats from across the 11-member bloc.
