Cambodian Red Cross President Visits Wounded Troops
AKP Phnom Penh, January 16, 2026 --
The President of the Cambodian Red Cross (CRC), Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen, visited wounded soldiers and personnel suffering from battlefield smoke inhalation at Siem Reap Provincial Referral Hospital and the 4th Regional Military Hospital on Friday.
Even though the second ceasefire was signed on Dec. 27, 2025, a number of service members remain hospitalised for injuries sustained during recent territorial defence operations. This marks the fifth such hospital visit by the Red Cross President, highlighting the ongoing humanitarian toll of the border tensions.
During her visit, Samdech Bun Rany Hun Sen expressed profound gratitude for the sacrifices made by the troops. "We recognise the immense physical and mental dedication of those who have stood on the front lines to protect our territorial integrity," she said, while also commending the families of the servicemen for their resilience and support.
The CRC President also delivered royal messages of support and well wishes from His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen Mother, emphasising the monarchy's concern for the recovery of the injured personnel.
Medical staff and family members reported that the visit provided a significant boost to morale. Following a direct bedside meeting with the patients, the CRC distributed humanitarian aid packages, including food supplies, essential goods, and financial assistance to each of the hospitalised soldiers.
