Thai Military Aggression Displaces Nearly Half a Million People
AKP Phnom Penh, December 19, 2025 -- Renewed military operations by Thai forces, which began on Dec. 7 and entered their 13th day today, have displaced nearly half a million people, according to Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra.
As of the morning of Dec. 19, 2025, a total of 498,328 individuals – including approximately 260,000 women and nearly 160,000 children – have been forced to flee their homes for safer areas, the Minister emphasised.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defence, stated that Thai forces have repeatedly utilised deceptive tactics to mask violations of Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, in blatant defiance of established international legal frameworks.
The spokeswoman further noted that the systemic aggression against Cambodia involves the deployment of heavy weaponry, including F-16 fighter jets, naval warships, heavy artillery, cluster bombs, toxic gas, and various types of advanced drones. These actions, she added, constitute a direct assault on both innocent civilians and World Heritage sites.
