Defence Ministry Dismisses Thailand’s ‘Army Region 2’ Publications
AKP Phnom Penh, December 13, 2025 -- The Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia has rejected publications by Thailand’s “Army Region 2” page regarding landmine issues, describing them as fake news and distortions of the truth.
“The publications of the ‘Army Region 2’ page reflect unprofessional conduct and disseminate false and misleading information,” the Ministry stressed in a statement released this afternoon, firmly denying the accusations made by the Thai side.
The Ministry underlined that Cambodia strictly adheres to international law and has not laid any new landmines. On the contrary, Cambodia has been actively engaged in clearing residual mines left over from past conflicts to protect the lives and safety of its citizens, as well as to promote social and economic development. Cambodia also actively participates in mine clearance activities under the framework of the United Nations.
Cambodia reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to respecting and implementing the ceasefire and the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, in the highest spirit of good faith and responsibility. The Kingdom consistently and strictly upholds all obligations under international law, particularly international humanitarian law.
