Cambodia, Vietnam to Promote Deeper and Stronger Bilateral Relations and Cooperation
AKP Phnom Penh, December 08, 2025 --
Bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam is already strong, but the leaders of both nations have pledged to further deepen and strengthen it for the mutual benefit of their peoples.
This commitment was reaffirmed this morning during a bilateral meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and his Vietnamese counterpart, H.E. Pham Minh Chinh, held in Vietnam’s Tay Ninh province, after the two leaders jointly presided over the official inauguration ceremony of the Meun Chey–Tan Nam International Border Gate in Cambodia’s Prey Veng province.
During the talks, H.E. Pham Minh Chinh congratulated both countries on the inauguration of the new border gate, describing it as an important achievement that reflects the positive progress of bilateral relations and cooperation.
He also extended his congratulations to Cambodia for its recent accomplishments in maintaining political stability and socio-economic development, which have contributed to improving people’s livelihoods. He expressed strong confidence that under the wise leadership of Samdech Thipadei, Cambodia will continue to advance and prosper across all sectors.
In response, the Cambodian Premier welcomed and highly valued the successful outcomes of the Meeting on Cooperation and Development between Cambodian and Vietnamese border provinces.
Samdech Thipadei also encouraged the border provinces of both countries to continue jointly developing the border areas into zones of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and development, in line with the spirit of “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term stability.”
He underlined that the inauguration of the Meun Chey-Tan Nam International Border Gate is a clear testimony to the positive growth of bilateral ties.
Samdech Thipadei also praised Vietnam’s multi-sector development and conveyed his condolences to the Vietnamese government and people over the recent floods that caused loss of life and property damage.
The two Prime Ministers further discussed ways to strengthen and expand cooperation in key sectors, including politics, economy, trade and investment, national defence and security, education and training, health, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and infrastructure connectivity.
Both leaders also agreed to continue enhancing cooperation within sub-regional, regional and international frameworks for the common benefit of the two nations.
