Samdech Khuon Sudary Stresses Unity and Trust in Leadership to Defend Sovereignty
AKP Phnom Penh, September 27, 2025 --
Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, stated that under the leadership of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Cambodia’s response to Thailand’s aggression against its sovereignty is firmly rooted in respect for international law and the protection of peace.
“Cambodia seeks peace not only for its own citizens, but also for the people of both countries, as well as for the ASEAN Community and the world,” she affirmed at a gathering on Sept. 27. Diplomacy and international law, she stressed, are the guiding principles of Cambodia’s foreign policy.
She expressed gratitude to Cambodian soldiers for their sacrifices and urged citizens not to be misled by extremists spreading division. “Unity is the key — united we live, divided we perish,” she said.
Khuon Sudary highlighted Cambodia’s diplomatic achievements, including the recent ceasefire initiative mediated by U.S. President Donald Trump and facilitated by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim with support from international partners, notably China. She reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to the formation and deployment of the ASEAN Observer Teams (AOT) and emphasised the fragility of the ceasefire due to repeated Thai violations. She underlined the need to strengthen the role of observer teams to fully and effectively enforce the ceasefire.
She also recalled her recent address at the 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly in Malaysia, where Cambodia condemned Thailand for applying the “rule of the jungle” and reaffirmed its aspiration for peace and harmony in ASEAN.
At the event, Khuon Sudary urged members of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) Women’s Movement to strengthen solidarity, remain down-to-earth, stay close to the people, and work actively and responsibly to ensure the party’s continued electoral success. Winning the hearts of the people and earning their trust in both the government and the party, she said, are defining factors.
