Cambodian Armed Forces Show Restraint Despite Thai Soldiers’ Attack on Sovereign Territory

Cambodian armed forces have maintained their utmost restraint even though Thai soldiers launched attack on Cambodian positions, stated H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence.
According to her statement released this afternoon, at approximately 11:52 a.m. on Sept. 27, 2025, Thai military forces launched a preemptive attack, firing mortars and multiple small arms at a Cambodian army base in the An Ses area, located within Cambodian sovereign territory.
In response, the spokesperson underlined, the Cambodian army exercised maximum restraint and refrained from returning fire. As of this hour, the Thai side has not yet ceased its assault.
“Cambodian forces reaffirm their unwavering commitment to fully respect and implement the ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand. Cambodia will continue close cooperation at all levels to safeguard peace, preserve stability, and ensure a swift return to normalcy, and urges the Thai side to do the same,” H.E. Lt. Maly Socheata concluded.
