AKP Phnom Penh, September 1, 2026  -- A high-level delegation from Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism visited Qinghai Province in northwestern China from Aug. 26 to 30 to promote Cambodia’s tourism potential and strengthen sub-regional cooperation under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) framework.

Led by H.E. Song Tong Hap, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Tourism, the mission coincided with the 10th anniversary of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.

During the visit, H.E. Song Tong Hap delivered remarks at the opening ceremony of the Cultural and Tourism Cooperation Conference, where he presented on “Cambodia’s Tourism Potential” under the presidency of H.E. Ma Rui, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Committee of Yushu City.

The Cambodian delegation comprised representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, Kep Provincial Administration, Takeo Provincial Administration and the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia. Representatives from other Lancang-Mekong countries, relevant private-sector organisations, and national and international media also participated, with total attendance exceeding 150 people.

H.E. Song Tong Hap also attended the official opening ceremony of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation River-Source Dialogue, where he delivered congratulatory remarks and conveyed greetings on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the LMC.

As part of the mission, the Cambodian delegation participated in technical and experience-sharing visits to several major cultural and tourism destinations, including the Yushu Museum, the Sanjiangyuan Monument in the source region of the Mekong River, and Qinghai Lake.

The visit provided an opportunity for Cambodia to showcase its diverse tourism resources while exchanging experiences with Lancang-Mekong countries on cultural and tourism development.

The mission also aligns with ongoing efforts under the Cambodia-China Tourism Year 2026 initiative to promote tourism growth, deepen Cambodia-China tourism cooperation and strengthen regional air connectivity.
