Cambodian PM Reaffirms War Cannot Be Ended by War
AKP Phnom Penh, September 26, 2025 --
Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet this morning reminded his cabinet members that war cannot be ended by war, but only through international law and peaceful dialogue.
At the weekly cabinet meeting at the Peace Palace, Samdech Thipadei reiterated the Royal Government’s firm position of resolving border issues peacefully and in accordance with international law.
Drawing from Cambodia’s own long history of conflict, he stressed that war only leads to further suffering, while negotiations and dialogue are the only paths to a lasting solution and the safe return of displaced people to their homes.
At the same time, the Premier expressed deep gratitude to Cambodian soldiers and armed forces for their courage in safeguarding the national sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also thanked relevant ministries and institutions, local authorities, and Cambodians both at home and abroad for their trust in the Royal Government and for their continued support to frontline soldiers and police officers.
Regarding the 18 Cambodian soldiers currently held in Thai custody, Samdech Thipadei affirmed that they will never be forgotten and that the Royal Government will continue to use all available mechanisms to secure their release.
The Prime Minister further called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Interior, the Secretariat of State for Border Affairs, the seven provincial administrations bordering Thailand, and all armed forces to strengthen cooperation in protecting territorial integrity, addressing refugee issues, and ensuring the safety of citizens.
