Siem Reap Holds Ceremony Honoring Soldiers Lost in Border Clashes
AKP Phnom Penh, August 10, 2025 -- A memorial ceremony was organised on Aug. 9 afternoon by the Siem Reap Provincial Authority and the provincial Department of Cults and Religion to honor Cambodian soldiers who died in recent border clashes.
The ceremony, held at Prasat Pre Roup Temple, drew a crowd of nearly 1,000 attendees, including senior monks, clergy, and government officials. The location was chosen due to a local belief that the temple once served as a royal crematorium.
According to tradition, holding the ceremony at this historical site would help the souls of the fallen soldiers find rebirth.
During the service, participants dedicated their prayers and offerings to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in defence of the nation.
They also paid tribute to the heroic kings and warriors of previous generations, wishing them eternal peace and a blessed rebirth. The ceremony served as a solemn reminder of the valor and sacrifice of Cambodia's defenders.
