Cambodia Forms Working Group to Coordinate with Malaysia-led Observation Team

The Royal Government of Cambodia has established a working group to coordinate with the Malaysia-led observer team tasked with monitoring the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
Speaking at a press briefing this morning, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, said the working group was officially formed on Aug. 1. It is chaired by H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, with H.E. Kung Phoak, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and H.E. Lt. Gen. Rath Dararath, Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defence, serving as Vice Chairs.
Key members of the working group include the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), the Commissioner-General of the National Police, and several senior military officials from the Ministry of National Defence and the RCAF High Command Headquarters, she added.
According to the spokesperson, the working group is mandated to coordinate and provide full support to the Malaysia-led observer team to facilitate the verification and enforcement of the ceasefire.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata reiterated Cambodia’s firm commitment to fully respecting and implementing all terms and conditions of the ceasefire agreement, with the goal of steadily restoring peace and stability.
She also urged the Thai side to promptly return the 18 remaining military personnel, as well as any other Cambodian forces still under Thai custody. In parallel, Cambodia is making every effort to ensure the safe and swift return of its soldiers through continued negotiations.
