Senate President Shares Channel News Asia Report Confirming Cambodian’s Ceasefire Commitment
AKP Phnom Penh, July 30, 2025 --
Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen this afternoon shared a news report of Channel News Asia confirming Cambodia’s adherence to the ceasefire agreement, which came into effect at midnight on July 28, 2025.
In a social media post, the Senate President said a Channel News Asia correspondent travelled to the Cambodia-Thailand border area to provide on-the-ground coverage. The journalist affirmed that Cambodia has not violated the ceasefire agreement reached with Thailand in Malaysia on July 28, contrary to the allegations made by the Thai government.
In the 1.24-minute-long video clip, the reporter said, “The summary is that the position of the Cambodian Defence Ministry is very clear. It firmly rejects the accusations by the Thai side. […] it is committed to the truce, to this ceasefire.”
He continued, “In fact, I spent a large part of my morning and day talking randomly to villagers here. We're about some 20 kilometres away from the active fighting, and many of them tell me that since 12 a.m. there has been no sounds of fighting. In the last five days, they heard very, very regularly large sounds of shelling and bomb blasts, but for the last couple of hours, from 12 a.m. till now, there's no such sounds.”
