Cambodia Postpones National High School Exam to Aug. 27–29 Due to Border Tensions
AKP Phnom Penh, July 27, 2025 -- The national high school examination for the 2024–2025 academic year, originally scheduled for Aug. 17–19, has been postponed to Aug. 27–29.
The updated schedule was announced this evening by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS) following a review meeting on the education situation in provinces bordering Thailand. The meeting was chaired this morning by H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of MoEYS.
The ministry stated that students in Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear provinces—affected by Thailand's ongoing military aggression—may take their exams in their home provinces or in other provinces if they have been displaced.
Many social media users commented on H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron’s Facebook page, calling for consideration to automatically pass candidates in the affected provinces, citing concerns about their ability to focus under such stressful conditions.
The total number of high school candidates for 2025 has not yet been released.
In 2024, 106,351 candidates—representing 79 percent of the 130,000 in total—passed the national exam. Among them, 2,216 received grade A; 9,701 earned a B grade; 22,675 a C; 36,683 a D; and 35,076 an E.
