Cambodia-Thailand Armed Conflict: IDC-CDI Urges for Immediate Cease-Fire, Peaceful Resolution Through Dialogue and International Law
AKP Phnom Penh, July 27, 2025 -- The Centrist Democrat International (IDC-CDI) has called for immediate cease-fire to the recent deadly clashes along Cambodia-Thailand border, and encouraged both sides to resort to peaceful resolution through dialogue and international law.
“We are gravely concerned over this on-going armed conflict, especially its enormous humanitarian catastrophe on both sides of the border, and urge both sides to restraint from escalating armed clashes, while resolving the issue through dialogue and diplomacy,” said IDC-CDI in a statement dated July 25.
In this spirit, IDC-CDI called upon both parties to:
1. Immediately cease fighting, pursue de-escalation, and negotiate in good faith to avoid broader regional conflict that could jeopardise peace, stability and development of the two countries and the region at large;
2. Refrain from any military use, attack, or other actions that could endanger or destruct the world heritage sites and other sacred cultural areas in violation of international instruments for the protecting of cultural heritage;
3. Promote the value of peace and peaceful dispute resolutions with sincere dialogue and negotiations based on international law for the common good of humanity; and
4. Uphold international justice and respect the international law with the UN at its core while resolving to adhere to the principles of peace made within ASEAN and other relevant regional framework, including mutual respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty, non-aggression, and peaceful co-existence.
“IDC-CDI remains committed to promoting the vision of ‘building a world community’ of peace, cooperation, friendship, harmony, and co-prosperity with the respect for international law,” the statement concluded.
