Russia-Cambodia Relations Flourish, Ambassador Anatoly Borovik Affirms
AKP Phnom Penh, July 11, 2025 --
Relations between Russia and Cambodia continue their effective development, with Russia commending Cambodia's dedication to expanding cooperation across all sectors.
This assessment comes from H.E. Anatoly Borovik, Ambassador of Russia to Cambodia, who spoke at a press conference on July 10.
"This year marks the 69th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Cambodia," Ambassador Borovik stated. "With our extensive experience in fruitful cooperation, we will continue to achieve new successes." He highlighted several key events in the first half of 2025 as clear demonstrations of the active engagement between the two nations.
In April 2025, the 11th session of the Russia-Cambodia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation convened. Co-chaired by H.E. Ms. Oksana Lut, Russia’s Minister of Agriculture, and H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the session significantly advanced bilateral trade and economic ties.
May 2025 saw a delegation of Cambodian business representatives visit Russia to explore opportunities for expanded cooperation in agriculture, logistics, tourism, construction, and pharmaceuticals. "I am confident that these steps will help elevate our relations to a new qualitative level," the ambassador remarked.
Ambassador Borovik also underscored a historic milestone: the first official visit to Cambodia by H.E. Igor Krasnov, Prosecutor General of Russia. During his two-day visit, seven meetings were held and three agreements were signed, opening new avenues for cooperation between institutions of both countries in protecting citizens' rights.
Cambodian delegations consistently participate in various events in Russia, including the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues, the 43rd Standing Committee of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), and the 5th International Conference on Global Biological Security Threats.
Looking ahead, Cambodian representatives are scheduled to participate in the upcoming "ICT-Crime 25" international conference on combating cybercrime, set to be held in St. Petersburg from July 24-26, 2025.
