CABC to Contribute to Boosting Canadian Investment in Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, May 30, 2025 --
The Canadian-ASEAN Business Council (CABC) has praised the achievements of Canadian companies operating in Cambodia and pledged to strengthen cooperation with the Royal Government of Cambodia to promote increased Canadian investment in the Kingdom.
The commitment was expressed by Mr. Wayne Farmer, President of CABC, during a meeting here on May 29 with H.E. Lim Visal, Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Board (CIB) under the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).
Mr. Farmer highlighted that the size of the current Canadian business delegation—comprising more than 80 companies—reflects a strong interest among Canadian investors in Cambodia’s trade and investment opportunities.
He also extended invitations to CDC representatives to attend two upcoming events: the Canada-ASEAN Business and Investment Forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, scheduled for September, and the Canadian Infrastructure Public-Private Partnership Forum in Toronto, Canada, later this year.
For his part, H.E. Lim Visal warmly welcomed the CABC delegation and emphasised that their visit will help expand bilateral trade and attract more Canadian investment. He noted the success of established Canadian companies in Cambodia, including the National Bank of Canada, which owns ABA Bank, and Manulife Insurance Company.
H.E. Lim Visal also briefed the delegation on Cambodia’s investment potential and expressed appreciation to the Canadian government for granting preferential trade treatment to least developed countries, including Cambodia. This support has contributed to the growth of Cambodian exports to Canada, which is now Cambodia’s sixth-largest export market.
Established in 2012 at the inaugural ASEAN-Canada Economic Ministers’ Meeting, the CABC works to promote business opportunities and build business networks between Canada and ASEAN member states.
