Industry Ministry Visits Water Facilities in Kampong Thom Province
AKP Phnom Penh, May 24, 2025 --
H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, visited two water treatment facilities in Baray and Staung districts of Kampong Thom province.
In Baray, H.E. Minister visited the private water facility of Mr. Chheng Chantheoun and encouraged the private water operator (PWO) to prioritise network expansion, promote connections and develop a digital map of the network to detect leakage and avoid damage from other infrastructure projects, according to the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI).
H.E. Hem Vannday then visited the construction site of the New Taing Krasaing Water Treatment Plant, a World Bank-funded project launched in July 2024. Scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, the plant will produce 4,400 cubic metres of clean water per day and connect to a 126.4-kilometre pipe network serving about 6,000 households.
“Our goal is to bring clean water to every corner of Cambodia, especially those villages just outside current service areas,” said the minister. “Access to clean water is not only vital for public health—it also strengthens our foundation for attracting investment, supporting local businesses, and driving regional trade.”
