The Preah Vihear Provincial Administration, in collaboration with the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), held a large-scale voluntary blood donation event under the meaningful theme “Give Blood, Give Love.” 

The initiative aimed to support the blood supply needs of the January 16 Referral Hospital in Preah Vihear and to help save the lives of accident victims and patients requiring critical care.

The event was held at Preah Vihear Temple Hall within the provincial administration building this morning. It was presided over by H.E. Kim Rithy, Governor of Preah Vihear province and attended by senior officials, civil servants from various departments, local authorities across the province’s eight districts, members of the armed forces, and other stakeholders.

In his remarks, Governor Kim Rithy emphasised the significant role of the “Club of Love” in encouraging youth and citizens from all walks of life to participate in the National Blood Transfusion Centret’s goal of achieving 100 percen voluntary blood donations. He highlighted that beyond promoting a culture of non-remunerated blood donation, the campaign also strengthens the safety and sustainability of blood supplies critical for saving lives.

“Donating blood is a noble act that reflects unity and social compassion,” he said. The governor added that the donated blood will be used for surgeries, treatment of serious illnesses such as cancer and blood disorders, emergency trauma cases, and maternal health complications.

H.E. Kim Rithy further stated that the “Club of Love” is committed to organising regular blood donation drives to meet ongoing hospital demands.

A total of 200 participants joined the event, with 141 eligible individuals donating blood, including 35 women. However, 36 individuals, including 26 women, were found ineligible due to medical reasons. In total, 84 blood units were collected: 26 units of O+, 6 units of AB+, 16 units of A+, and 36 units of B+.
