Advancement of Cambodia, China State Media Cooperation Discussed
AKP Phnom Penh, March 07, 2025 --
Cambodia's Minister of Information and the China Media Group (CMG) have discussed cooperation expansion, building on the ongoing productive partnership.
The cooperation was highlighted in a meeting at the ministry on Mar. 7 between the Information Minister, H.E. Neth Pheaktra, and Ms. Xu Xiaoxia, Deputy Director of the Khmer Language Department of CMG's Asia-Africa Languages Programming Centre.
H.E. Neth Pheaktra proposed CMG consider supporting news in Chinese on Cambodia's national news agency, Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP), which has been publishing news reports in Khmer, French, English, and Arabic.
He also encouraged the expansion of Chinese broadcasting on the National Television of Cambodia (TVK) and the Radio National of Kampuchea (RNK).
Translation of Cambodian news into Chinese and vice versa, he added, will further foster relationships and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries, particularly in tradition, culture, livelihoods, and tourism.
Ms. Xu Xiaoxia appreciated the good outcome of the cooperation between the Ministry of Information and CMG so far and pledged to expand the partnership, including in the areas proposed by the minister.
The partnership has contributed to building technical capacity among the TVK officials by the China Global Television Network (CGTN).
According to the Deputy Director, CMG is the largest state-run media group in China, broadcasting in 68 languages across the globe, especially through CGTN and China Central Television (CCTV).
