Military Medical Personnel to Take Part in Combatting COVID-19
AKP Phnom Penh, March 10, 2021 --
Thirty (30) medical teams of 300 military medical personnel will join hands with their civilian counterparts in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, underlined Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen in another voice message this evening.
The Premier asked the Ministers of Health, National Defence, and Economy and Finance to turn two more hotels in Phnom Penh, in addition to the Great Duke (former Intercontinental) Hotel to be the hospitals for the COVID-19 patients.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the military medical personnel have to take part in the fight because their civilian counterparts are exhausted as the number of COVID-19 infections has increased dramatically and at the same time, they are also taking care of other diseases.
According to the Prime Minister, the two new COVID-19 hospitals will be under the charge of the military medical team.
Sixty-four (64) new cases of COVID-19 were reported this morning; bringing Cambodia's tally to 1,124, of which 613 are related to the Feb. 20 Community Event, the current cluster infections in the country. A total of 549 patients have so far recovered with no fatal case.
